I'm installing ram on my laptop?

through youtube videos and online tutorials I know how to do the physical process, but will my inspiron 1545 need anything else for the ram to work, any sort of software or a detection thing run to detect the new ram? the ram isDDR2PC2-6400 manufacturer PNY 2G (each) (free movie download!!lol) im running windows 7 it says the rams compatible with 533, 667, or 800 MHz and avec/con?(idk what the heck that is)
